MLWS Community Chorus

We bring together parents, teachers, staff, and neighbors from the broader community to rehearse holiday songs for our Winter Fair. The Chorus will reconvene in January, learning songs from around the world, for a potential performance in the spring. All are welcome, regardless of musical experience! While this is an adult chorus; MLWS alumni are welcome.

Attendance at rehearsals is not required to sing at the Winter Fair; song recordings are available for you to learn at home! Click here for rehearsal recordings.

Decades of research has shown that singing in groups relieves stress and stimulates the immune response, improves lung function and may improve snoring, improves mental health and mood, and develops a sense of belonging and connection.

Lydia is thrilled to bring back the Chorus for our community! She was a long-time member of the MLWS Community Chorus under the direction of Vicki Arbo, and regularly led sectionals and the choir whenever Vicki was unable. Lydia was the MLWS chorus teacher for two years in the early 2000’s when each group contained ~30 students, and taught for many years with Musical Munchkins. Through her work teaching individual voice lessons for children and adults, with a particular focus on “tone deaf” adults, she developed the workshop, “Everybody Can Sing.” Lydia acted as musical director for Theatre on the Road’s annual touring production of “A Christmas Carol” for several years.
