Mountain Laurel Waldorf School is a private day-school located in the Hudson Valley, New York. We offer parent/child playgroups, preschool, kindergarten through eighth grade, after-school care, and after school clubs (open to the public). As part of a worldwide association of Waldorf schools we are dedicated to bringing forth the full creative potential of each child.

Waldorf education speaks directly to children’s experience, addressing each of the three different ways we relate to the world: through the intellect, the emotions, and the will — the ability to get things done.

The Waldorf approach also recognizes that children have distinct, age-related educational needs according to their particular stages of development. Our goal is that our students meet life’s challenges with clear thinking, balanced emotions, and self-initiative.

“I learned to think here. I learned to imagine here. I love Mountain Laurel. In a strange and unsteady world, it’s a castle, a beacon. It will always be my home.”
~ Gideon Sterer (alumnus)

Future-Proofing Your Child for an AI World

Imagine your child’s first day at their dream job fifteen years from now. They walk into an office where AI handles routine tasks, data analysis, and even some creative work. The question every parent should be asking isn’t whether AI will be part of our children’s future – it’s whether our children will have the skills to thrive alongside it.

Summer Days At Mountain Laurel

Summer Days at Mountain Laurel offers children up to eight full weeks of fun and adventure in an enriching and nurturing environment.

Our experienced and enthusiastic instructors will bring outdoor wonder and play through activities such as crafts, building projects using natural materials, song, games, storytelling and water play. Rhythm and reverence will follow your child throughout the day. Fun and laughter, old friends and new — our aim is that your child will leave feeling fulfilled and supported.
