Mountain Laurel Waldorf School is pleased to announce that the school day has been extended for the 2019-2020 school year. The new hours from 8:15 a.m. to 3:00 p.m, will add a full period to the day. After much deliberation, the faculty came to the conclusion that the students of Mountain Laurel will benefit from this extension in a myriad of ways.
Most importantly, we feel that the students need more breathing room and a better rhythm to their day in the schedule as well as more time for class teachers to spend with them in skills practice. For example, in the upper grades, there will be more time for daily math and language arts practice, and in the lower grades, more time for literacy instruction. It is also our intention to create more space in the schedule for Eurythmy and German in addition to the value of having more time available for private music, and educational support lessons during the school day.
