PEDAGOGICAL EXCELLENCE
Ensure a high-quality education to meet the evolving needs of students while maintaining a commitment to Waldorf principles
- Create and fill the position of Faculty Chair
- Launch Accreditation processes with AWSNA & NYSAIS
- Develop a pathway to satisfy NY State Department of Education Substantial Equivalency requirements
- Explore potential for expanded programming / curriculum (Eurythmy, Games, Sex Ed, Cybercivics, etc)
INCLUSIVITY & BELONGING
Create and sustain a diverse, equitable, inclusive, and just school community that is safe and welcoming for all, preparing the children to navigate an evolving world
- Implement recommendations from Alma Partners DEIJ Audit to consciously incorporate ongoing best practices.
- Recruit and retain faculty, staff, and board members from underrepresented groups.
- Increase enrollment and retention with a view on DEIJ.
- Ensure that a diverse student body is reflected in the curriculum, festivals, and events.
ORGANIZATIONAL SUSTAINABILITY
Position MLWS for long-term sustainability and growth opportunities as they arise
- Determine optimal equation for tuition, sustainable teacher wages, enrollment and fixed costs.
- Increase fundraising potential.
- Explore feasibility and implications of campus expansion.
- Implement recommendations for greening our school and reducing our carbon footprint.
COMMUNITY
Maximize engagement and collaboration
- Clarify parent role and increase engagement.
- Expand the Board of Trustees to support the school’s needs with necessary subject matter expertise.
- Strengthen communication between college, board, administration, parent body in order to build toward a shared vision of the school we want to be.
- Increase Mountain Laurel’s presence and positive impact in the larger community.
